Summer Reading Programs (National and Local!)

Help Avoid the "Summer Slide".

By Kelsey Smith- Publisher of Macaroni Kid Daytona Beach June 4, 2025

It can be challenging to keep kids busy all summer long, and of course, we've all heard about the dreaded "summer slide." Encouraging our kids to read during summer break can help prevent boredom and learning loss by maintaining reading skills and keeping kids' minds engaged.

Thanks to our local libraries and many national companies, we can keep kids reading this summer and earn rewards, too! If you're looking for an easy way to sneak some learning into your summer, check out these programs and see if one will work for your child.
